I'm 13 turning 14 on Oct. 19. And I'm a girl. I'm pretty good at school work and just a little with social skills. And how do I hangout with the cool crowd of higher grades? Help me :( And I think I look okay. Just need a little help with buying new and cool brands of shoes and stuff(: Tips please?
Oh and I'm from Las Vegas.

Answer
1. Say hi to the person sitting next to you in each of your classes.
2. Go in with a positive attitude
3. Get to know your teacher's school emails so you can submit papers, ask questions etc.
4. Don't be embarrassed or afraid to raise your hand to ask questions.
5. If you fall behind make sure you get help right away because then you will fall so far behind you'll have a hard time getting back on track.
6. Buy a whiteboard/ cork-board for your room or one of those wipe off wall stickers, and write down the due dates of assignments, long term projects, extended homework, group work, trips anything important.
7. Buy a mini whiteboard for your locker or a few magnets and write down the same things.
8. If you have no one to sit with at lunch sit alone, someone will come over to you :)
9. Get the phone number of someone in each of your classes for homework etc.
10. Take notes.
11. Keep your notes organized!!!!

12. You don't need a boyfriend to make you happy.
13. Don't ever lose a friend over a boy.
14. Getting into fights is not cute
15. Be assertive not to nice, not to mean.
16. Don't let people tale advantage of you.
17. If you happen to go out with an upperclassmen be careful. If a senior is after you they usually do want one thing. Now this doesn't mean that you have to stay away because there are very nice guys too.
18. You are not in love with someone after a month.
19. Juniors and seniors will leave you alone for the most part, sophomores are a different story.
20. Never go to a party alone. EVER
21. Unless you can drive don't have a friend suggest driving you to and from somewhere unless you know 100% there is a designated driver or your friend will not drink. ( yes high school parties have drinking)
22. Don't do drugs
23. Surround yourself with positive people
24. Join clubs, teams and things you like because you like it not to fit in.
25. Always make time for friends
26. Even best friends let secrets go, be mindful of what you tell who.
27. Don't listen to or spread rumors. Your eyes are the witness of the truth
28. If you have a problem talk it out. Tell your friend but ideally find an adult whom you trust completely to talk you through what's wrong.
29. Having a relationship with your parents is important.
30. Someone, somewhere will have a problem with you. Be the bigger person and ignore it.
31. Don't start drama, high schools more fun that way.
32. Girls can be mean.
33. Have pride, and dignity in yourself.
34. The girls that are sluts and get all the attention usually have self esteem issues.
35. People get pregnant, things happen, so protect yourself and never abandon a friend who is going through this.
IN YOUR BAG/ locker
36. Keep an extra notebook folder.

55. Pack your bag, lunch projects the night before.
56. Set your alarm clock 1 min apart so it rings twice
57. Set your cellphone alarm too
58. Pick out a few clothes each night so you don't have to run around when what you thought you wanted to wear doesn't look right.
59. ALWAYS STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF
60. Take nothing but pens, pencils, a notebook and a folder the first day
61. Use your locker all the freshmen here think it's a good idea to not use lockers IKD why.
62. Find what studying method works for you.
63. Find what morning routine works for you
64. Find what HAIR product works best ( I knew one worked and I used a differed one and I looked like a lion by the end of the day)
65. Invest in Bobby pins.
66. Shower every night or morning or both.
67. Pack gum. So you always have minty fresh breath
68. Remember your phone.
69. Don't use a purse AND a bag
70. NOT PASSING GYM CAN PREVENT YOU FROM GRADUATING WITH YOUR CLASS!!!!
71. Have fun
72. Think about what interests you and what you want to do in college like think of a major
73. Don't over challenge yourself, only take on what you can handle

What are some cool things to do on the last day of high school?

Erin

My last day of high school is in 2 days, I need some ideas for what to do on the last day while I am at school and when I get home. Please someone help!

Answer
1. Start a food fight... But you can find amusment with that one even if its not the last day of school.

2. If you know someone you really hate is moving, don't let them leave without them not knowing why you hate them. Tell them every little reason why you hate them. Thats ALWAYS fun.

3. Put "Kick Me" signs on teachers, students, or even the principle! A simple goodbye hug seems very normal on such a day! But while hugging them, snap that sign on them!! So fun.

4. Swear like CRAZY! I love doing this right after the bell rings for summer. Teachers can't do a thing to you. At the end of the school day, just start yelling, "F*CK (INSERT SCHOOL NAME)!!" Some teachers might get mad at you but they really can't do anything.

5. Climbing trees! Some o' my friends climbed this huge tree at the end of school and would yell peoples names. It was so amusing to see people look around. Or they would yell things like, "THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!" it was so funny.

6. Two words: Zombie Attack. Well, not a real one. Just gather some friends and act like zombies while your travelling from class to class. You'll freak people out, its worth it.

7. Admit your undying love to a teacher. Even if you really don't have undying love for them. Hell, even if you hate the teacher. its just funny.

8. Bring an ipod and crank it up during class. What the hell are they gonna do? Take away your ipod on the last day of school? Yeah right.

9. Take a bunch of pictures. Nuf said.

10. KICK PEOPLE! >__>

11. Duck tape friends to walls and then have them throw confetti at people walking by. (Wish I could do this!)

12. Hug random people walking by. But make sure you don't know them, because then its funnier.

13. Raise your hand during class, and then when the teacher calls on you, start singing. ^_^

14. Well, for me it was Orchestra class, but you can do it any class. We hid peoples binders (And instruments) around the room. And if your tall like me, you can put things up on high places. Its fun to watch people try to find or reach things. Woo!

15. Act like your dieing over the summer. Act as if the last day of school is the last day of your life. Its reeeeally fun.

16. Pretend to have a crush on a guy you know is moving over the summer.

17. During lunch, start singing with a bunch of people. Get a whole group of friends and start singing your favorite song, and preferbly one that not many other people like outside your friends!

18. Get a bunch of friends to act like the world is coming to an end.

19. Call people the wrong name repeadly. Especially if they know you know them. Just say things like, "Omg, I'm soo sad I wont see you over the summer, Bob! Your like one of my best friends, Bob!" Its really fun.

20. Talk to your English teacher with really bad grammar. Act as if you didnt learn a thing!

21. Putting tacks on teachers chairs. Make sure no one sees you >__>

22. Put jello in the school toilets. Yes, I'm serious.

23. You COULD glue all the books to the desk. But it'd be hard to not get cuaght!

24. Get a type of candys thats white and easy to crush into dust. Something like Smarties or something. Then crush a bunch of them together and put it in a bag and hide it somewhere (Or better yet, put it in the principles office and put a note to it saying "Here's the stuff, G-Diddy"). We love doing this! Or you could actually smoke the smarties, thats always fun, and a good alternate to real cocaine! But some schools will suspend you if they see you. Beware.

25. Get a bunch of friends who all have cell phones. And then stimutanously call each other and put the rings to really loud. Preferbly with annoying ring tones. And try to get everyone with the cellphones in the same classroom. Fun. Very fun.

26. Go to school wearing a costume or something. Or with lots of makeup. Or just wear something that breaks the School rules as much as possible. Too short of skirt, hats. masks, high heels, all the works that might break a rule. But we have a strict dress code, you might not.

27. Ride your bike in the hall way. It works better if you have an outside school, like us...

28. If you got friends in band or orchestra, get them all together after school and pretend like your having a concert outside. Always fun to see peopels reactions as they walk by. (Our whole Orchestra is planning on doing that next year! But without the conductor...)

29. Break a lot of school rules. Its just plain fun to do it on the last day of schoo, because you cant get detention. Though one kid did something drastic one year and he was given detention, but he had to wait till after summer to serve it.

30. GO INSANE! GO COMPLETELY INSANE! Just start running around like a complete spaz. Especially right after the bell rings. Get a bunch of friends to scream when the bell rings and run around with spazs with you, if you can! Its really fun!

A few extras:
Set off the alarm half way through a period
Do it at the end of the day to piss everyone off
leave a nasty suprise for one of you teachers preferbly one you dont like :)
Get lots of A1 paper and write a letter on each piece and write something crazy :P

I am starting a non-profit organization that gives backpacks with school supplies to children in Africa and South Asia. I am partnering up with other organizations that build free schools for poor children, and I will provide those children with the backpacks and school supplies. So can you help me come up with a creative and catchy name for my organization? Thank you for being part of the change :)

What is a good thesis statement for why Americans are wasteful people?

Priya G

thesis statement should have the main idea for 3 paragraohs. Should give specific and typical examples.

Answer
All you titty-twisters need to travel to someplace in the world, heck, anyplace in the world! With the exception of San Farncisco, America is not wasteful, or dirty. You should travel south of San Diego, Europe, Russia, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, or Eastern Europe, if want to see waste! America has more recycling trucks, wind mills, solar panels, hybrid cars, and cous cous, than anybody! It would be even cleaner here without the illegal dirt bags throwing their sofas everywhere and pooping on the streets.

Edit OverCastKid: You are 100% correct! Adults are being programmed by the Marxist media, children are being programed in the schools, and little tots are being programmed through children's books! Just take a look at the children's section at Boarders Books....it is filled with trash about Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth and stink about the Obama Nation!

You spoon fed morons need to start thinking!!

Ideas for atom project?

Jamie

I have a project where i have to build a 3D Bohr Model of a Magnesium atom and I can use whatever materials i want except styrofoam. Also in this project i need to incorporate i specific property of the element like color, what it's used for, what foods it is in, etc. So what can i do for magnesium?

Answer
I have doubts as to whether a single atom of Magnesium could truly be said to have a 'color'. Use a bag of marbles to make a nucleus of Magnesium 24, which is the most common isotope. Use 12 of one color for Protons, and 12 of another for Neutrons.

You are then going to have to build electron shells round it. If you have access to a lot of wire coat hangers, and can hammer them into circles and figure '8's and things, you might be able to snip them up with wire cutters and solder or tape them together but it will look like a shaky mess and you might have to construct some sort of wooden frame around it to stop it falling apart when you carry it into school. If you were really clever you could work out how to set little beads into clear plastic, adding layer by layer into a big glass jar, but I think could prove tricky.

Your electron subshells are going to look like this:

1s 2
2s 2
2p 6
3s 2

Maybe you could take a big ball made out of multi colored modelling clay, build the whole thing layer by layer, then cut an eigth out of it ( like the top quarter) to show what is inside. Wrap it in tinfoil first to make it look silver. Or make it out of wax and set fire to it, to show your teacher it burns in air.

My relationship sux. Does yours?

Q. He said: I hope you will understand but I just need some time alone.
We were texting about his parents.
His parents dont allow me to talk to him and Ive never met them tho Ive seen them once.
What happened was in the beginning of June, I was caught with alcoholic empty beverages in my bag. I live in a islamic country (Qatar) and they were nice enough to not deport me out of the country or kick me out of the school.
His parents were afraid that they were gonna lose their jobs and be deported since my bf brought the alcohol to school and gave it to me.
I know its bad so dont waste your time saying that I shouldnt be doing these things at this age or that im unmature.
I know I am..
Point is, he went to Europe for a vacation and sent me a text before he left from his fathers phone. His dad's phone stopped working but managed to fix it from the settings. When they came back from Europe, the phone wasnt working adnd his father thinks that my mother blocked his phone and/or made a complaint.

And they dont have internet but they fixed it and he was on the internet (i didnt know) and his stepmom woke up and thought that he was talking to me about ways to put his father in jail..
Thats fckin nonsense.
We barley communicate anyways since its Summer.
Its all really confusing, weve been together since the beginning of March. I know one thing for sure that hes not breaking up with me because he aways promises that he would never break up with me. And when he came back from Europe, he was in a bad mood and was upset because his parents are not your average "good" parents.

All I can say is help?

Hey guys,
Okay so I kinda need some help. Well I am an international student from India at an american university. I kinda have this emotional dilemma which your take on it could help me solve it. So here is the thing. I am an average looking guy with a average height 5'5 and being from India I am brown. I work hard in college academically as well as with organizations like say a fraternity. Almost all my friends have a girlfriend or have girls that hit on them but I do not. I do not drink, smoke or do drugs and if I go to a party i just stay responsible enough to take care no one is hurt. When I was in high school back in India about 4-5 girls liked me and I had a relationship with 2 girls (different years though I was not two timing)but the ironic part is whenever we decided to be in a relationship both the girls moved to a different state and city in India and eventually we broke up. One girl out of the 5 was pretty good looking and was even very popular in high school such that guys wanted to go out with here but she wanted to only go out with me because she wanted to sleep with me and I said to her that could we be just friends as I did not feel the emotional attachment with her. Even here in America I would never take advantage of a drunk girl and instead try to get them to their rooms safely. The girls that I know say I am a nice guy but thats it. If I am nice why do those girls like guys who i find to be douche bags. I am branded as the geek here as I like computers and watching big bang theory and stuff like physics etc etc. There are other Indian guys here as well who have the orthodox thinking of white woman being whores and they just want to have sex with them or drunk girls that is why i dont like hanging out with them despite this they get a date but I dont, whereas according to indian standards i look better than them ya but I am shorter in height than them. Moreover back home my parents are busy so they cant skype regulary with me as i want to and my sister who is also in america (different state) rarely calls me or returns my calls or even skype with me , she is 7 years older than me but we were very good friends when i was in middle school and 9th grade. My highschool friends have become so busy with their college life that they do not even call me and when ever i try calling them they sometimes pick up. I understand it could be the cost of an international call but I tell them to just send me a message online and i will call them yet they dont. I just wanted to ask you guys that if I am the good guy as people say ( just a little geeky) so why do I not get a girlfriend (here there are no indian woman in undergraduate hence I just have the option of dating an American and dating sites do not work here) and I have no problem in dating an American infact my family would be very happy and accept who ever I like not like the stereotypical indian family. I sometimes feel very lonely and it hurts a little. All my classes are engineering classes with rarely girls in them and almost all the girls on my dorm floor are committed or not around. There is this guy from India and Nigeria who keeping rubbing it in my face that I dont have a girlfriend and how they score girls here. I dont wanna score just have one relationship so that I could take care of the girl I would like and keep her happy.

I know this is a long question but please could you help me?

Answer
I assure you nothing is wrong with you. Life is life.
I can relate to you in many ways, I've never done anything like drugs, smoke, and I'm proud to admit in my second year in High school, I am a virgin.

Do not change your ways, especially to fit in, stay YOU.

Please help!!! my life is completely messed up?

Fear F Wor

This is the story of my life read it completely to answer.
I'm a person living in India. Though I was born in high class and rich family, my parents never thought of earning a penny. My father inherited vast assets from my grand father. After getting such a huge sum of money, he went on to purchase big home, expensive cars and other valuable households. My father manipulated my mother (as she was from a poorer family), even though she was his second wife (his first marriage ended in 1977 because he never had stable employment and also he had one year daughter from his first wife(I never seen her only photographs) at the time he was divorced). He had four brothers out which 3(including him) married second time(after divorce). He is a firm believer of astrology. He always believed that through the knowledge of astrology he can always win huge sum of money (the thing that never happened!). I also have a sister who is 5 year younger than me. He always believed that through the knowledge of astrology he can always win huge sum of money (the thing that never happened!). Throughout my childhood he abused me and insulted me. Even for smallest mistake, he used to beat shit out of me (I mean it literally). When I was just 4 years old he beat me with stick and belt, stripped my clothes off and made me sleep naked in mid of December night on dirty jute bags, just because I scared that night to sleep alone and wanted to sleep with my mom and by doing this I was ruining his privacy. In year 1997 he inherited huge sum of money (nearly 5 million rupees) in form of stocks and real estate and in year 1999 he blewed all the money. At that time I was only 15. My studies came to hault and I suffered a major nervous breakdown. I stared to smoke. I suffered depression and usually had violent clashes with my parents. My sister's life was also ruined. As he discovered he is left with NO MONEY! He went on a selling spree. First he sold my mother's jewellary along with her mangalsutra (mangalsutra necklace is a hindu equivalent of wedding ring), then he sold his cars and lastly he sold his house. This selling spree started in 2000 and ended in 2004 with selling his house. He and my mother were very superstitious. They always believed that the bad thing they are having is due to some evil spirit and spent a substantial amount on black magicians. I was expelled out of school when I was in 11th grade or high school due to non payment of fees (6000 Rs) where as at the same time he spent 11000 Rs on astrologers and black magicians. He sold his in 2004 I was 18. I completed my high school with biology with first division. I wanted to go to college. At the same time He said He wanted to move to another city in a nearby state as this city was always been unlucky to him. I resisted I said to mom "Mother... he is not gonna do anything as he never done anything so far. After going to that alien city our life will get completely doomed. For few months he will show that he is seriously trying but afterward he will lay down on the couch and would do nothing. Her*(my sister) education would go in jeopardy and she will dream to become film star. Me and you won't be able to do any thing. I I estimate in just 5 years we would lose even our last penny.DON'T TRUST HIM!". This dialogue took a violent turn my father called police and somehow my mother begged officers

SAHM's: What do u do during the day, honestly?

Mama

Answer
I was a SAHM for a number of years, including when my sons were in school. My schedule changed, of course, with my sons' growing needs... Usually when people are curious about "what we do" during the day, it's usually SAHMs who have kids in school, so I'll answer about that period of time for me.

Before getting the kids up for school, I was up. (DH would leave at 6:am, and that's about when I'd be up and starting my day.) I woud usually run a load of laundryand clean up anything left over in the kitchen, before running through backpacks one last time to make sure all permission slips were there, homework was in the right folder, etc. Then I'd wake the boys and get them fed and off to school.

When they were at school I cleaned the house, which of course included laundry, straightening, and sorting through whatever needed it. (Mail, Christmas cards, bills, receipts...) About once a week I would pull out the checkbook, balance the account and see what bills were coming up so if something needed to be done (like adding to lunch accounts or buying clothes) I'd know if we could do that or not. I planned out dinners for the whole week, and since I'm a pretty good cook, took a lot of pleasure in finding the right items, so it wasn't unusual that I would get groceries about three times a week if I needed to, including a trip to a wholesale club. I also volunteered at the kids' school district and school activities, so sometimes I'd go up to have lunch with them, on my way to pick up patches for the Webelo den. Speaking of the den, I'd plan the weekly activity and buy the materials, print out whatever needed to be done, etc.

I volunteered at cub scouts and the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee, so there were often committee meetings and things I needed to do with regard to those responsibilities. That role SEPAC also meant I was a liasion for parents, so I would field phone calls about the special education process for parents. I also fielded calls for non-competitive soccer, as well as recruited the coaches and helped at the coach clinics and division meetings. (Suring the season I would coach, but that was an after school and weekend thing.) For cub scouts I also wrote the newsletter for the pack, so I would work on that during the day, and get it copied and ready to go out each month. During the day I also scheduled appointments, followed up on insurance information, returned movies and library books, organized cabinets, and did research on autism. Of course, when the kids had events, I went to those, and I often helped with things like the school carnival, etc. I didn't like to mow, but I did like to clip the hedges!

The kids would get home from school at about 4:pm, so when they got home I would help them with homework as I did things in the kitchen, like clean out the fridge, take inventory in the pantry, or read up on new recipes. At about 5:pm, I would start dinner, and I usually worked on that until about 6:30 or so. If DH was home, everyone would eat, and I would usually leave the dishes in the sink. (Sorry, but it's the truth. I was TIRED by then! Lol!) After dinner I usually folded laundry while DH got the boys in the shower, and then they'd go to bed, and then we would, maybe after watching a little TV. If I had free time during the day, I liked to read or do some writing... Although I usually read when I was waiting for things. I spent most of my leisure time, when I had it, writing or working on the computer.

While the kids were at school, I almost never hung out with girlfriends, I don't think I ever went to the movies, only a couple times did I ever go to pampered chef parties, and that was as a favor for a friend... I was always busy always going, and didn't have time for things like watching a lot of TV and scrapbooking. Some women do, but I had other "hobbies" that took my time, and that was kid-stuff.

Doesn't it sound like fun?!! Lol! It was very hard work, and very rewarding.

Trying to raise money for a chariatble foundation at school. Any good ideas?

Q. Okay, we're raising money for a charitable foundation, and we need good ideas. We already have done (and can't do again):

A raffle
Bake sales
Dress down day (where we can wear whatever we want if we pay like 3 dollars, instead of wearing a uniform)

We're already thinking of doing:
A movie night in the auditorium
An after school story time for little kids

Yeah. So anything other than those things, please list 'em! I'll give best answer to the person that gives the most ideas that I actually decide to use, so list as many as you can think, even if you htink they sound stupid. Oh, and the school goes from nursery to eighth grade, so all age group related activities work! Thank you!

Answer
A 'fashion show' where the kids or teachers dress up and put on a show for the parents, you charge for entry and everybody has fun.
A talent contest same idea.
Some kind of quiz or word puzzle. Get one off the internet or make your own, then people pay to enter and have some kind of chocolates for a prize.
Bag-packing at a local supermarket: put out collection boxes and smile sweetly ;)
Sponsoring form a local company, the kids parents might be interested of they have their own business maybe?
Teachers vs students (or parents) sports event
Sponored silence
Sponsored spelling event (the kids have a sheet of words to learn, and get relatives to sponsor them. At the end they all get tested and are sponsored for the number of words they get right)
Have an all ages crafts/cooking event, then sell the spoils.

Good luck with it :)

How do you teach singers (non-instrumentalists) to read music notation?

Mr T

I teach general music classes (grades 1-6) and middle school chorus. They do not use an instrument which helps in learning to read notes. I am looking for a good methodology or technique to teach the singers to read music.

Answer
There are a couple of approaches you could take dependent on your system of teaching. Do you give written worksheets in class or as homework? Can you do sectionals with your choir?

At Elementary Level, you can present the mnemonics for the spaces Treble - FACE and Bass All Cars Eat Gas. After explaining the music alphabet line-space-line-space, etc., you can use worksheets, chalkboard or overhead to quiz. I have a giant staff and bean bags. The little ones throw a bag and then they have to put a ruler next to it to show correct stem rules and name the note. We set up a '5 finger' position on the staff (EX. CDEFG) then we sing it up and down, (obviously in half notes)-saying the letters; then we remove one bag and they sing what they see. Then we scramble them many different ways and they sing and say the letters. Sometimes I do solfeg, also. Different days use different letters. C major and G major teach most of the lines and spaces. Then I explain sharps and flats. We use felt #/b to add to the notes. We explore C major versus C minor and G - Gm. Then when we set up DEFGA I challenge them to hear that it is minor and we use the # to make it major, etc, etc.

Flashcards also work at both levels. One fun way is a 'Minute Challenge'. Have a chart up with their names listed. Each day have a couple kids take the challenge. How many cards can they correctly identify in one minute? Record the score and have them try to improve it the next time they try. You can use handheld flash cards but the other kids can't easily see those. If you make overhead flashcards, everyone (mostly) will be looking and thinking what it is. Some kids lock up under pressure, so this works in a subtle way. The ones who are not having to say it are thinking what they guess it is - if they are right they feel satisfied, if they are wrong, they aren't embarassed because nobody knew what they thought, but they tend to think "Oh it should have been...". They are actually getting more practice than the nervous one who is under pressure.

At MS choir level, these methods can also work on an overhead. Once they can get most of the lines and spaces, you can have them talk through a phrase of music in a piece they are working on - saying the letters, clapping the rhythm, then finally singing it saying the letters and finally singing it saying the lyrics. This ideally should be in sections. Sometimes you could give a worksheet packet to the whole class, then pull your sopranos up to sight read and sight sing while the others work on the worksheets, then send the sopranos back and bring up the altos, etc - depending on the length of your class period - perhaps 10 minutes each. For worksheets you can get a variety of notespellers, even ones that yield a story or composer vingette - Prima Music on line has a really thorough listing of theory and rhythm workbooks you could order. Or make up your own.

But occasionally it's not a bad idea to have the whole class say the letters, so they all at least get acquainted with both staves.

Hope that helps.

Why do students in high school not care what kind of backpack others carry?

Onyx

When I was a freshman last year, I noticed that the upper classes had odd choices in terms of backpacks. Like, someone will carry a freaking ninja turtle pack that's made for little kids, a Mario backpack or even an adventure time backpack. It was sort of funny, and I felt much more free to be myself. Basically, nobody had the same one because they were entirely based on personality. Is my high school the only one that has students that really don't care what other people carry? I'd always heard high school was full of fake people and, even though that's slightly true, its not at all bad like I had first expected.

Answer
No one cares at my school except for ONE thing.

Do NOT use a rolling backpack. It gets in the way of others and trips people and looks very "nerdy" so... yeah.

Other than that, they dont care. Some have backpacks for kids, shoulder bags, gucci bags, messenger bags, string bags, or no backpacks at all!

Who?

Think about it. A teenage girl in your school comes to school wearing a chicken feed sack dress. What do you do or say to her?

Answer
if it was simply a sack with arm and head wholes ripped in it, I'd offer for her to go to the mall with me to hang out, and treat her :)

But if it was an actual dress sewn with chicken feed bags in place of fabric? Oh wow I'd be amazed!

What did you consider yourself to be in high school?

CFaith

I'm doing a project for my English class based on the book "The Things They Carried" which has to be around the things high schoolers carry. My teacher said anything goes and my group and I are going to survey people and ask them what they consider themselves to be in high school (nerd, stoner, jock, preppy, etc) and what physical/emotional things they carried to fulfill the "duties" of their clique. The physical things include anything that you typically bring to school in your bag/backpack. We're going to use the data and make a slideshow. I have a small school and I'm going to ask students in my school and get photos of their backpacks. But, I want the results to be as collective as possible so that's why I'm here.

What do you think you were in high school? What things did you physically carry daily? Were there any emotional things or feeling that were carried associated with being in the clique you were? (for example, nerds feeling out-casted or "too" smart) Thanks so much.
Please:
I need items that were physically carried.

Answer
Outcast, pot head, skaters.
In my bag: mp3 player, cell, book, fart machine, shine in a bag, & red bull

I'm bringing a Kipling denim bag that you just put over your shoulder. It's pretty big though.. What are you guys bringing?
I also just want to see what other people have. You always find interesting bags. =)

Answer
I have one main backpack, and lots of other totes.

My backpack is a red flowered Dakine backpack (the pretty kind!). I have totes: a tan colored American Eagle tote, a blue Rozy tote, a green plain tote with leather handles, and a big white and black Chanel purse.

:)

Where to get a good sturdy bag for school?

Vi 2vrescu

Preferably a side bag... Literally I'm clueless of where to get a bag that looks nice enough that is black or navy blue (school colours) that actually looks nice, but doesn't strain my back. Any suggestions?

Answer
Well to be honest, any side bag is going to strain your back/neck/shoulder.
Lesportsac and Kipling have nice bags.

Would you force your child to leave your home at 18?

Poor

What if your kid was 18 and wanted to stay at home?

Answer
No. My 'job' doesn't end when they turn 18. Not all children grow up overnight when they hit adulthood. I meet some people who were fully independent by the age of 16 or 17 and doing great on their own, and I meet others who weren't in a position in life to manage alone in the world until their early or mid 20s. Personally I would have been in a real mess if my parents had washed their hands of me when I hit 18. I wouldn't do that to my child. I wouldn't condone laziness (ie. thinking he can drop out of education, not work, and live off me indefinately), but I believe it is very possible to instill good values upon your children without bagging up their stuff and pushing them out the door the day after their 18th birthday. If my son goes to university, I will more than happily let him stay home if he wishes to avoid him racking up the tens of thousands of £s debt most UK students get into. Even if he goes straight from high school into a job, if he wants to remain home for a while to give him a chance to save enough money for a house deposit so he can get on the property ladder (which is extremely difficult in this country these days) instead of pissing his money away on rent then I would more than happily help him out. If it simply takes him a while longer than some people to acquire the maturity to manage in the 'real world', then I would still prefer to have him in my home than living on the streets or on friend's couches, at least living with me I would have a chance in hell of helping him get on the right track.

Hunting In the uk in what ways can it be legal ?

In what ways can you hunt in the uk legally? and why is it you can't?

Answer
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Agonm6jRFD7TcQTA1APpkTtJBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20100501020811AAPNOGh

When Fatefinger asks a question like the one above one can't really take anything seriously from this kid. He lives in mommas basement.

Hunting with dogs is a bit of a grey area.

Hunting with a rifle or shotgun, no problem what so ever. Less restrictions on hunting in the UK than the states.
Maybe you should ask fartfinger if he can use an 8 gauge for wildfowling with? Ask him if he needs tags and bag limits, ask him if he can hunt rabbit and fox at night, ask if he needs a licence or schooling.

What kind of school bag can you recommend for me?

Q. I hate backpacks. I think they're stupid, annoying, and overrated. I hate em. I'm the type of student that is obsessed with school. I have at least one or two 2" binders in my bag. Plus like one book. Plus, a pencil case, planner, and the average things found in a teenage girls bag. But I hate backpacks. Any help?
I use the whole oversized bag thing, but, I don't want to damage any of my bags.

Answer
You could maybe get a tote or a messenger bag. Although a messenger bag would probably work better considering you need those particular school supplies and you might want to get organized.

Maybe something like this? A cute spacious bag related to school. It also has little zip pockets to store things in.

Or some kind of tote bag with different kinds of print on it.

I need some freshmen tips please help me?

Emmy

I'll be a freshmen next year and I'm so stressed out. Should I study during the summer vacation? What do I need to take with me in my high school bag? What if I won't make any friends?

Answer
deep breath, you will do fine :) it seems scary, but it really isn't. If you are in honors courses and they ask you to read or do work over summer, then do it early so you don't waste your summer, and review before your first day. My high school has lockers, so assuming yours does, you can put most of your books and things in there, but i would recommend a backpack too, because it makes things easier. Before school starts, go and look at where all your classes are, so you aren't more stressed on the first day. good luck, and it will be fine :)
